Our Research Strategy
Advancing equitable and sustainable solutions for the prevention, diagnosis, and control of Tropical Infectious Diseases (TIDs).
Our Vision
"A capable Benin Republic that develops innovative, locally rooted solutions for malaria, arboviroses, neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), and emerging zoonotic threats by 2040, driven by cutting-edge research and community-led action."
Our Mission
We pioneer locally adapted research, precision surveillance, and agile response systems to eliminate malaria, NTDs, and zoonotic threats in Benin. By empowering national expertise, fostering community-led innovation, and advocating for equitable policies, we build a Benin where infectious diseases no longer hinder development anchored in self-reliance and global solidarity.
Our 5 Strategic Goals
These five pillars guide every action we take, ensuring our research translates into tangible impact.
Understand Local Dynamics
Systematically investigate the evolving epidemiology, ecological drivers, and socio-economic factors influencing TIDs in Benin.
Develop Context-Specific Tools
Design, validate, and implement affordable, culturally appropriate, and locally adaptable solutions for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
Empower Communities
Engage communities as active partners in research, intervention design, and implementation to ensure sustainable solutions.
Strengthen Health Systems
Enhance Benin's capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to TIDs by embedding research-driven solutions into national health systems.
Influence Global Health Policy
Ensure research findings inform and shape national and international health policies, turning evidence into action.
Our Research Priorities
Our work is focused on key priority areas designed to address the most pressing challenges in tropical health.
Our Research Units
Our work is structured around specialized units, each a center of excellence in its respective field.
UEGDFU
Environment, Data Management and University Training Unit
The Environment, Data Management and University Training Unit. Part of the Tropical Infectious Diseases Research Center (TIDRC) at the Alfred Quenum "Institut Régional de Santé Publique" (IRSP-CAQ) in Ouidah, Benin, our unit combines environmental studies, advanced data management, and innovative university training. We focus on neglected tropical diseases and common infectious diseases with a transdisciplinary approach, preparing you to tackle real-world challenges head-on.
